Boris Herrmann x OLYMP: Launch of First Joint Collection

Professional sailor and fashion brand rely exclusively on natural materials made from renewable raw materials for this capsule collection.

100 percent certified organic cotton or organic linen, corozo buttons and cotton and cellulose fibre sewing threads. “All Nature” is the title of the first joint collection by Boris Herrmann and OLYMP. The German professional sailor of Team Malizia and the successful family business from Bietigheim-Bissingen (Ludwigsburg district, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) are thereby continuing their commitment in terms of sustainability and creating a diverse range of clothing.

“When it comes to sustainability, we’ve been steering a very consistent course in recent years and have already made a great deal of progress,” explains Mark Bezner, owner and CEO of OLYMP. “With our first collection, we’re not only emphasising the responsible design of our range, but also creating another beacon for sustainability,” Mark Bezner continues.

Ambitious sustainability goals – The focus of the seven-piece collection is the use of natural materials made from certified renewable raw materials. The products consist of 100 percent organic cotton or organic linen. OLYMP is using the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) for the first time. “All Nature” is also incorporated in all the products’ details and components. Consistently using single-origin natural materials for the fabric, sewing threads, buttons and all the other product components increases product recyclability. This brings OLYMP even closer to the core vision of a circular economy and makes an important contribution on the product side.

Versatility and timelessness – The new Boris Herrmann x OLYMP collection consisting of three shirts, two T-shirts, a polo shirt and a sweatshirt impresses with its classic colours and timeless design. The items can be flexibly combined with each other and provide a basic configuration for a more sustainable wardrobe that gets by with just a few pieces, can be used for as long as possible and can always be further augmented with garments from subsequent collections. The launch of the first capsule collection will take place with the High Summer Collection in April 2024.

Boris Herrmann x OLYMP – In cooperation between the round-the-world sailor and the fashion brand several capsule collections are planned. They are each dedicated to a central challenge in product design and present innovative sustainability and design ideas. “All Nature” kicks off with a collection centred around natural materials. The collections are part of the “Green Choice” sustainability label that was launched back in autumn 2021, which OLYMP uses to identify products that particularly stand for environmental sustainability. The ambitious strategy behind Green Choice is based on three pillars, namely the use of more sustainable materials, a more environment-friendly production and more sustainable product packaging. Independent seals such as GOTS, OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN and TENCELTM are a testament to the broad entrepreneurial commitment. The aim is to have converted the whole range to Green Choice by 2025. Over 80 percent of the range already meet these criteria.

The ambassador for this ambitious programme is Boris Herrmann, skipper of Team Malizia. With him, OLYMP not only has a multi-award-winning professional sailor at its side, he was also the first German to take part in the prestigious Vendée Globe, considered the toughest solo yacht race in the world, for which he will be setting sail again in November 2024. With his Team Malizia’s “A Race We Must Win – Climate Action Now” mission, Boris Herrmann is simultaneously embracing a clear sustainability message, is taking action for climate protection, and is therefore the ideal partner for OLYMP.
